Fellows

Fellows of the American College of Phlebology (FACPh) are recognized for their substantial commitment and contribution to the specialty of phlebology. Committment to phlebology is shown through volunteerism, publications, education, years of practice, leadership and any other quality or behavior that leads to the advancement of vein care. Fellows of the American College of Phlebology are members who have acheived Premier Active status and apply for Fellow Status. Fellows must be unanimously elected by the ACP Board of Directors and are designated with "FACPh"

 

Application Requirements:

Premier Active Members interested in obtaining Fellow status must fill an application using Pathway 1 Application (Academic) or Pathway 2 Application (Experience).

Pathway I (Academic)

  1. Must be an ACP Member for a minimum of three consecutive years..
  2. Must hold “Active Membership Status”
  3. Must be a current ABPh Diplomate (Board Certification in Phlebology)
  4. Accomplishment of 3 or more of the following:
    • Publication in a peer-reviewed journal, one or more articles (excluding abstracts and letters) related to phlebology;
    • Publication in a textbook or a clinical chapter in a textbook of phlebology
    • Presentation of one or more papers or invited lectures at an Annual Congress or Symposium of the ACP or of the UIP;
    • Participation on the Board of Directors of the College or of the UIP;
    • Participation on a committee of the ACP Board of the College for a minimum of two years;
    • Receipt of one of the following awards: BSN-JOBST Research Award; Platinum, Silver or Bronze Abstract Award
  5. Once awarded FELLOW, understands and agrees to attend one annual congress of the ACP every two years for the first six years of being a Fellow. If requirements are NOT met, status will be returned to Premier Active.

Maintenance of Fellow Status

  1. Annual Dues payment of $550.00/year
  2. Attendance of Annual Congress every other year of the first 6 years of Fellow Membership.

Pathway 2 (Experience)

  1. Must have Active membership for a minimum of 7 consecutive years
  2. Must be board certified by the ABPh with all of the necessary features to maintain certification.
  3. Must attend 7 of last 10 Annual Congress
  4. Must serve an active role on committees of the board of the College or the Foundation for minimum of (4) years.
  5. Must possess the CCI credential in Phlebology, and/or an active RVT, RVS, or RVPI credential.
  6. Must provide (3) letters from existing Fellows of the ACP
  7. Must have a combination of (4) of the following education/participation activities:
    • Serve as an instructor in an annual congress, regional symposium, or UIP
    • Present an abstract at the ACP Annual Congress or UIP
    • Present a poster at the ACP Annual Congress or UIP
    • Serve as a preceptor for the ACP or other recognized vein organization
    • Receive the ACP Jobst Award
    • Receive the Research-In-Practice Grant
    • Receive the Research Trainee Grant
    • Receive the Junior Faculty Investigator Grant
    • Receive an award for abstract presented at an ACP Congress
    • Serve as a Speaker’s Bureau Committee member
    • Provide phlebology services on a mission trip in an underprivileged region.
  8. Once awarded FELLOW, understands and agrees to attend one annual congress of the ACP every two years for the first six years of being a Fellow. If requirements are NOT met, status will be returned to Premier Active.
