Statement of Purpose:
Oversees and directs workgroups to develop and make changes to overall CME Program based on the direction of ACP, feedback provided by workgroups, and any additional national or international ACCME items that could directly impact ACP’s overall CME Program.

CME Committee

Statement of Purpose:
The CME Chair represents the CME Program at onsite Annual Congress planning meetings and follows up with the four Workgroup members for incomplete workgroup tasks. Members of the CME Standing Committee also assist the CME Director develop clinical questions for surveys to develop expected outcomes; recommend learning formats to better engage targeted audiences. In addition, they help the CME Director develop clinically relevant objectives; coach leadership on current CME expectations; and ensures ACP’s meetings are ACCME-compliant (includes distance learning programs that offer CME).

Work Group #1 – ACCME Compliance & Content Direction

Statement of Purpose:
Members of Work Group #1 assist the CME Director (ACP Staff member) to develop the self-study reports for ACCME Accreditation and to also respond to ACCME surveyor questions during interviews. Members also review upcoming CME Activities for bias and conflicts. Members participate in conference calls to review activity evaluation data for programs produced by the ACP (includes internet enduring materials and live activities). Members also review overall CME Program evaluation data and discuss whether the ACP CME Program is fulfilling the CME mission.

Work Group #2 – Annual Congress

Statement of Purpose:
Members of Work Group #2 review presentations submitted by Annual Congress speakers (objectives, audience questions, and answers) in advance of Annual Congress. Members also review, approve, and/or complete (objectives, audience questions, and answers) on-site during the Annual Congress for presentations that were submitted late. Each work group member is on call for at least one ½ day during the congress. Given the large workgroup size, this responsibility would occur once every few years.

Work Group #3 – Regional Meetings

Statement of Purpose:
Members of Work Group #3 review one to two presentations (objectives, audience questions, and answers) for regional meeting speakers. They must follow-up with regional meeting speakers for late presentations (objectives, audience questions, and answers if being recorded) and review and approve, and/or complete the missing information. Workgroup members must be available to attend meetings onsite to help resolve any onsite CME presentation issues (including conflicts, objectives, and audience question/answer issues).

Work Group #4 – Internet/Enduring Materials

Statement of Purpose:
Members of this work group must take ACP Online Education Center courses 1-4 times per year (April, July, October, January) and complete an evaluation of the course(s) to decide whether content is relevant, recommend changes, or should be replaced. Members receive CME credit per course taken due to the amount of content to be reviewed.
